On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, the Senate Education Committee is scheduled to vote on Senate Bill 1 – the Opportunity Scholarship and Educational Improvement Tax Credit Act. This is the first important step of the legislative process that the proposal will have to follow before school choice becomes law.

ALL ARE INVITED! The committee vote is big news; we need a strong and loud show of support from the nonpublic school community. This public meeting is open to everyone. If you or your group can get to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, we can crowd the room with supporters. Visit PCC’s Capitol Trip Planner site for directions and details on parking.

Senate Education Committee meeting
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
10:30 am
Hearing Room 1 – North Office Building
(at the corner of North St. & Commonwealth Ave.)

Senate Bill 1 – the Opportunity Scholarship Act would provide scholarships for both public-to-public and public-to-private school choice. It also includes an increase in funding for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. It is the right choice for Pennsylvania’s future.

Even if you can’t travel to Harrisburg for the committee vote, you can demonstrate your support by contacting your state Senator. Visit, call, fax, write or e-mail your state Senator and urge him or her to vote YES on SB 1 and only support amendments offered by the bill’s sponsors.
