School-Choice Champion Philip J. Murren Receives Legislative Award

The Honorable, Philip J. Murren, Esq., Principal in the Law Firm of Ball, Murren & Connell, LLC was awarded the PACAPE School Choice Champion award at a ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at the Willow Valley Resort in Lancaster.

Philip J. Murren, Esq. is a principal in the Law Firm of Ball, Murren & Connell, LLC in Camp Hill, PA. He has practiced with that firm continuously since 1975, upon his admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

 

Mr. Murren is a graduate of LaSalle University and of the Villanova University School of Law. He is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States and of the Bars of various Federal District Courts and United States Courts of Appeals located throughout the country.

 

He has served as an elected or appointed municipal official in various capacities since 1989, and is currently Solicitor to the Zoning Hearing Board of the Borough of Camp Hill and Solicitor to the Zoning Hearing Board of Monroe Township.

 

Mr. Murren’s practice has included his appearance as counsel in more than 20 cases that have been filed in the Supreme Court of the United States, involving constitutional issues, employment law issues, property issues, taxation issues and education law issues.

 

Mr. Murren has represented the PA Catholic Conference and numerous additional faith-based institutions on litigation matters and legislative matters since 1975. His litigation experience includes involvement in cases filed in State and Federal Courts in over 20 states and in the District of Columbia.

 

He has authored and defended numerous initiatives relating to the establishment of school choice programs, including those involving scholarship tax credits, tuition grants, school transportation, school health services, textbook loans, instructional materials, special education services and charter schools.
