Hundreds of students, teachers, parents and Pennsylvania lawmakers gathered at the Capitol on Wednesday, May 2, to show their support for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program and say “Happy Birthday” as the program turns 17!
The annual rally is held with the dual purpose of celebrating the highly-praised program and to thank the legislators for their continued support.
The EITC Program allows more than 40,000 students each year to choose the school that best fits their needs.
During the rally, the Paul M. Henkels Award was given to Mr. Philip J. Murren of BALL, MURREN & CONNELL, LLC, who played an integral role in the enactment of the EITC program. The award celebrates the leadership of individuals and organizations that advance innovative solutions and demonstrate meaningful progress in expanding educational options in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In a message to student attendees, Murren said, “Thank you for being here, thank you for being you, thank you for what you will become.”
