school choice, eitc, ostcOn May 6, hundreds of students, parents and teachers from across the state gathered on the steps of the capitol to show support for the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs.

These programs provide scholarships to over 50,000 students every year, helping families choose the school that best fits their needs.

Attendees heard from Catholic school and NFL alum Ricky Watters, who told them that at a young age, he didn’t realize the impact his education would have on his life. Now, he told he the crowd, “I want every child to have the educational opportunities I had.”

Legislative leaders also spoke in support of EITC and OSTC as well current legislation that would expand the programs. Speakers included Senator Lloyd Smucker (Lancaster), Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (Allegheny), Representative Stan Saylor (York), Representative Jim Christiana (Beaver,Washington), Representative Mike Vereb (Montgomery) and Representative Thomas Quigley (Montgomery).

This legislation, House Bill 752, would make more tax credits available to businesses so that more scholarships are available to parents and students. Send a message in support of House Bill 752 by clicking here.
