Because tomorrow is Election Day, the state legislature is out of session. This means that your senators and representatives are working in their home district offices instead of in Harrisburg at the Capitol.
Given the status of school choice – Senate Bill 1 has passed the Senate and been sent to the House – this week “at home” presents a unique and important opportunity for you to visit your representative in his or her district office. Not sure where your representative’s district office is? Click here to enter your address and find out the location of your representative’s district office.
The next two weeks are critical to our goal of passing school choice legislation. If you have been sitting on the sidelines throughout this debate, NOW is the time to jump in and speak with your legislators, and we are making it easier than ever! And if you have already contacted your legislator about school choice, it does not hurt to do it again and urge you friends and neighbors to do the same.
You do not need to make an appointment; you can stop in and register your feedback with a staff member. But you can also call ahead and make an appointment to meet personally with your representative. District office phone numbers are also available at the link above.
We’ve provided an easy script to help prepare you for your visit – the basic message is “As your voting constituent, I am asking you to support an increase in the EITC program and the creation of a school choice voucher program.” If you would like to prepare even further, please click here to learn more about the financial specifics, benefits to Catholic schools, academic accountability and vouchers in other states.
If you aren’t able to visit, please make a call to your legislator today (phone numbers are also available by clicking here). If you are not able to call or visit, it only takes a few clicks to send an email message in support of school choice through the Catholic Advocacy Network.
