Maine passes same-sex marriage
Submitted by AB_Hill on Thursday, May 7 2009
On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, Gov. John Baldacci of Maine signed a bill into law legalizing same-sex marriage in that state. It becomes the fifth state to allow gay marriage joining Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and Iowa.
The teachings of the Catholic Church uphold the idea the marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman. The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference (PCC) along with the coalition partners of Pennsylvania For Marriage strongly advocates for advancing and supporting legislation that will strengthen marriage believing we need to do all that we can to uphold and encourage healthy marriages, not redefine them.
